Saying Goodbye to Summer

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

It's the last day of August and I am sooooooo ready for Fall to be here! Even though it's a zillion degrees here in the AZ, I'm going to pretend it's not and start decorating, dressing, and cooking for fall STAT.

I'm loving the schoolhouse theme right now since we're doing homeschool preschool with the kids and of course Pottery Barn Kids has awesome ideas to snatch (as always). I need to make these colored pencil wall art pieces this week-so easy & cheap! And that globe! Here's one I found on Ebay-only $8! That is some cheap decor!

As far as outfits go equestrian chic, deep plums, sequins, and statement necklaces are all calling my name. Also, I cannot WAIT to try out the new tights with shorts trend. Such a nice transition for the hot fall days and cooler nights here.

Aren't you wanting to cook some fall infused recipes? Like pumpkin swirl brownies? AAAAhhh!

or Beer Braised Beef with Onions from P Dubs

Or Gingerbread Apple Upside Down Cake from Smitten Kitchen (again. I'm obsessed)

Now I'm off to dream of more fun fall things to make, do, wear, and eat. What are the things you are most excited for about Fall?

Creative Escape Live Webshow & Fall Junque Projects

Friday, August 27, 2010

Last night I finally busted out some of the new Fall Junque Digital Kit that I bought last week after watching their webshow and made myself a Junquey Planner Folder. I followed these directions on the House of 3 Inspiration House Blog and made myself the manila folder with the map background.

Then, I used the Fall Junque Borders and made myself these Daily planner to map out my days. I also put together new To Do Lists (extra big for my 80 item list I currently have going).

Last I made a September Calendar with the Junque in the Trunque Elements.

I really want to put together some manila folder journals they showed on the house blog, but that will have to wait until later.

Tonight is the Creative Escape Webshow featuring the new kit, Capture Beauty. Watch along with me tonight and make some carmel corn!

Digital Scrapbooking Day

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Did you download your House of 3 Sampler Kit? It's full of all kinds of digital goodies, like backgrounds, overlays, borders, even brushes! A lot of the stuff I already had since I am a House of 3 junkie, but there's also some new stuff in there that I've never seen before!

My layout I did is super sweet, but it was also easy as pie. I used these elements from the Sampler Kit

The Summer Junque Background
The Summer Junque Border
The Rounded Corner Frame Brush
The Love Label Brush

And I added in her nickname with Odalisque Font. Here's the finished product:

Isn't it fab? And it literally took me 5 minutes in Photoshop. You can also use programs you already have on your computer for all the elements except brushes so no matter what computer you have, download the Free Sampler Kit and play around with the digital designs!

Check out the House of 3 Inspiration House blog for more digital layout tutorials with their new Fall Junque Kits!

Craft Envy

Wednesday, August 25, 2010

I'm pea green with jealousy right now because I will not be attending the craftapalooza that is Creative Escape and Spark. Creative Escape starts tomorrow in Chandler and I'm thinking about sneaking over and peeking in the windows at all the amazing things that will be going on there. All my favorite people are going to be there, as well as a bunch of other super talented ladies that will be sharing all kinds of fun crafty projects. However, I do not have an extra $600 in my budget to splurge on a fun craft-filled weekend. Boo.

And on Sept 10th, Spark kicks off in Utah and I want to stow away in someone's suitcase and stalk the most creative event of the year and soak in all the magic. Again, I won't be able to go this year (plus I think Braden would die if I left for 3 days and he was stuck with all 5 of the babies). But, if you can find a way to go it is seriously going to be filled to the brim with deliciousness.

So, instead of sitting here and moping about it, I'm declaring a Creative Escape and Spark stalk fest. I will be scouring their websites, the teachers blogs and finding out what projects they will be teaching and crafting away here at home in Mesa! I'll post a list of supplies and links if you guys want to create-a-long with me and celebrate everyone else's fun time at these events!

Go to the Creative Escape blog now and download a free House of 3 sampler kit that we can use for a project tomorrow! Tonight there will not be a House of 3 webshow because they will be taping LIVE at Creative Escape! SO mark your calendars Friday and watch along with me!
